The fiber optic infrastructure sharing model benefits operators and internet providers, of all sizes and regions, who can hire FTTH (Fiber To The Home) broadband solution or services in the wholesale market
São Paulo, May 26, 2022 – V.tal, the first end-to-end neutral network company in the Brazilian market and owner of the largest fiber optic infrastructure in the country, will participate in Abrint’s meeting, from May 26 to 28, in São Paulo. The company will present to internet providers and telecom operators how neutral network solutions can help rapidly expand the provision of high-speed broadband services to more than 16 million households in more than 230 cities in all regions of the country, in addition to its wholesale services to serve the telecommunications market, especially in enabling the deployment of 5G in Brazil.
The main advantage of a neutral network for regional internet providers and operators is that they no longer need to invest in building and maintaining their own fiber optic cable network to offer broadband internet services. They can rent V.tal’s FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network with options to bring high-speed broadband internet (up to 1Gbps) to the end customer’s home and thus enable the provider to rapidly expand its area of operation, including to other cities and regions, and focus on end consumer service.
“In addition to the possibility of expanding to new locations, internet providers, small or large, are able to start their sales through V.tal’s shared network within 30 days after signing the contract, rapidly increasing their revenue. The network, being neutral, is open and shared between operators and internet providers, also favoring the entry of new players in the fiber broadband market, increasing competition and offering more options for consumers,” explains Rafael Marquez, Marketing Director at V.tal.
The executive also adds that a single and shared network is also efficient from the point of view of sustainability. “The neutral network avoids the overlapping and launching of multiple networks in the same aerial fiber mesh or in underground pipelines, generating less amount of cables and equipment, reducing electricity consumption and also improving urban conditions and visual pollution with direct impact on the environment,” says Marquez.
The company already has more than 16 million homes passed with fiber optic internet available for contracting in all states of the country and has a robust investment plan of R$30 billion by 2025, when it intends to reach 32 million homes passed. V.tal has a fast pace in the construction of homes passed, with an average of 400,000 new homes passed per month, which positions the company as one of the largest in the world.
Enabling 5G
V.tal’s neutral network will also be strategic for the deployment of 5G technology in mobile telephony, offering capacity to transport large volumes of data from antennas and towers with ERBs (Base Radio Stations), to the operators’ servers or points of presence. V.tal’s fiber infrastructure is present in more than 2,300 municipalities, with a network of about 400,000 kilometers of optical fiber, the largest in the country and is strategic for the future of connectivity and digital life throughout the Brazilian territory.
The company recently launched two products to serve the wholesale market: FTT-Tower (Fiber to the Tower) and FTT-City (Fiber to the City). FTT-Tower will connect the cell phone towers and antennas between a location to the Points of Presence (PoPs) of the Operators or ISPs in that area, through V.tal’s fiber optic backhaul in the same municipality.
FTT-City will make connectivity between locations and Points of Presence (POPs) that are in other municipalities, but within the same state; in this case, using excerpts from its backbone and from the entire fiber network available and required for this connection.
