In addition to connecting homes and businesses, infrastructure will be key to enabling 5G in mobile telephony
V.tal, the first end-to-end neutral network company in the Brazilian market, with the largest fiber optic infrastructure in the country, is present in Minas Gerais with more than 1.6 million homes with availability to contract fiber optic internet, with more than 500 thousand in the capital, Belo Horizonte. The company has about 12,000 kilometers of cables already installed and offers its neutral network services to 5 internet providers, including Vero, EasyTV and Master.
This new business model, which is the sharing of connectivity infrastructure, is allowing providers of all sizes to expand their area of activity, creating more options for end consumers – such as Master, which was created in the interior of Minas Gerais and is now expanding to the Capital and neighboring states, thanks to V.tal’s neutral network.
Cellular mobile telephony will also benefit from neutral networks, since the towers with the antennas are connected to the operators by cables, to accommodate the large volume of data captured by the antennas of each company. With the arrival of 5G, this volume will be multiplied 5 times at least.
V.tal has an investment plan of R$30 billion by 2025 to expand the existing network and increase capacity, contributing to the massification of high-speed internet in all regions of the country. The company has reached 15 million homes passed with fiber optic internet available for contracting and has the prospect of reaching 32 million homes passed by 2025. We are at a rate of 460,000 homes passed per month.
